It is the authentic Japanese restaurant. It is not easy to find a Japanese restaurant with Real Japanese chef, waitress and food. I love authentic Japanese sushi and was glad to find this restaurant. Tried Omasake one time, and the meal was great! Compared to the Manhattan’s, the price is really affordable!

Sushi Yasu is a surprisingly good sushi restaurant in a Queens strip mall. The sushi is notably above average, despite how the place looks, which isn’t to say bad by any means, but just unassuming and in a strip mall. The service is always efficient and polite.

Looks like the place is not turning enough profit so they are cutting corners on quality and quantity. Shrimp shumai have no shrimp and only 3 in a portion instead of normal six in every other restaurant in the area. Specialty rolls are a joke except for maybe crab one. Bacucaly a regular roll with one more ingredient added and priced at $7 more. Spicy rolls are barely spicy. Probably the cheapest spicy mayo they could find.

Miso soup was over salty but edamame was fine. Basic rolls were good but specialty rolls weren’t very flavorful. Consider this more of a take out option if you want to try it.

Stopped here around 8:00pm for a solitary dinner. I had the tako yaki, eel avocado roll and an iced green tea. The tako yaki wasn’t the best, I’d say about 5/10, but everything else was great and the staff were really nice.
